Famous People with BPIs

Until a couple years ago when I was researching special needs, I had never heard of brachial plexus injuries.  It affects 1-2 babies per 1,000 births.  What does my daughter have in common with a college football player and a TV President?  These are people who are affected by obstetrical brachial plexus injuries.

Adrian Clayborn, defensive lineman for the Iowa Hawkeyes

                                     Martin Sheen, actor

The following people are also believed to have had BPIs:

Alexander the Great

Joseph Stalin

Queen Victoria

*Update from my post "Waiting Too Long":  The 9-year-old boy with a BPI has been removed from my agency's portal which means he has been chosen by a family!!!  His dream that he expressed of being adopted and having a family in America is about to come true.

Little William that I also mentioned is still waiting.  I've finally been able to see his file.  He has a left BPI but is otherwise healthy (like Ella!).  He lives in an orphanage and has been going to preschool.  He likes to sing nursery songs and his favorite toy is a car.  He's going to turn five in May, on my dad's birthday actually.  Just imagine where he will go if given the opportunity of a home and a family of his own...
